Mildred Cheng is a multidisciplinary designer with a background in visual communication, who later shifted her focus into building community through design. With an MA in Social Design (Art as Urban Innovation) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and B.F.A of Graphic Design at Savannah College of Art and Design, she is constantly finding new ways to fuse art and design into social practices. As co-founder of dtby (2018) and co-curator of UNHEARD (2022), she has led design festivals and exhibitions in Hong Kong and Vienna. She also founded the food collective SALIVA (2023) to explore the use of food as a storytelling tool to bring people together. Her research interests include the role of design in material culture, the labor and care aspects embedded in consumerist and popular culture.
